Dubois Strong has announced they are now accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the organization, providing leadership toward achieving the goals established by the Board of Directors.

The Executive Director is the “public face” of the organization, representing Dubois Strong throughout the county and in regional, state, and national initiatives. This role gives the opportunity to grow personally and professionally while leading and developing office staff.

Duties of the position include:

  • Advising the Board of Directors in establishing policies, goals, and target outcomes to carry out the organization’s strategic initiatives.
  • The Executive Director shall envision, develop, and implement economic development initiatives independently and in concert with the board of directors.
  • Regularly meet with leaders of local companies to determine how Dubois Strong can assist them to thrive and grow.
  • Regularly meet with community leaders (elected, appointed, and volunteer) to apply Dubois Strong resources in facilitating community development.
  • Facilitate studies of the county’s economic development status to assist in determining goals and initiatives.
  • Execute effective public relations activities to keep the county’s residents and employers informed about Dubois Strong’s initiatives and accomplishments.
  • Communicate regularly with the public and private-sector funders of the organization to inform them about accomplishments and learn about their needs.
  • Participate in regional and state economic development leadership through Radius Indiana Regional Opportunities Initiative (ROI), Local Chambers of Commerce, and the IEDA.
  • Ensure that Dubois Strong’s operations meet all legal, financial, and ethical standards.
  • Prepare agendas for and effectively lead meetings of the full Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other committees.
  • Reside in Dubois County within six to nine months of employment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board.
  • Prepare annual budgets for Dubois Strong and Grow Dubois County and leverage local, State, and Federal funding to support economic development in Dubois County Qualifications

Prospective candidates should have a strong record of economic development leadership, employment, and supervisory experience in the public or private sectors; as well as excellent communication and public speaking skills. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in disciplines related to the role is desired. Dubois Strong is seeking a candidate possessing a working knowledge of economic and sociological conditions and opportunities in Dubois County, the Uplands region, and the State of Indiana.

Applicants for the position will be evaluated by the Search Committee of Dubois Strong and the most qualified will be invited to participate in the next phase of the selection process.
