The Rotary Club of Dubois County proudly announces Dr. Katie Jenner, Indiana Secretary of Education, as the keynote speaker for the 2024 ATHENA Awards Banquet. The event is set for Wednesday, September 18th, at the Huntingburg Event Center.
“Dr. Katie Jenner will undoubtedly inspire anyone who comes to our 12th annual ATHENA Awards Banquet,” said ATHENA Event Chairperson Manda Combs. “As a female leader in the state house, she will bring a dynamic and unique perspective to share with the audience about her journey and how she has worked to reach her goals.”
Dr. Jenner, the state’s first Secretary of Education, leads the Indiana Department of Education with a learner-centered, future-focused vision, concentrating on student learning, educator talent, and system alignment. Initiatives under her leadership include Indiana’s largest investment in literacy, a comprehensive teacher supply and demand marketplace, and the Indiana Graduates Prepared to Succeed (Indiana GPS) dashboard.
“I’m thrilled to come to Dubois County to elevate and celebrate the 2024 ATHENA award finalists who work every day toward the betterment of their community and our state,” said Dr. Jenner. “To make a real impact, it takes key change agents at the community and state level who are relentlessly passionate and devoted to making it better for others. I look forward to meeting these strong women in Dubois County.”
The 2024 ATHENA Award Finalists from Dubois County are Deb Capps, Peggy Amos-Huff, Tammy Lampert, Jodi Routson, and Mary Warner. One finalist will be named the 2024 ATHENA Award Recipient at the event.
