The Dubois County Board of Commissioners and the Jasper Redevelopment Commission both met on Tuesday to discuss significant projects impacting the community.

Highway Superintendent Steve Berg updated the Commissioners on road work, noting that the Schnellville Road treatment is complete up to State Road 64, with work set to begin on Division Road and Jasper Dubois Road. The board also approved new budgeting for a full-time nursing position and two part-time community health worker roles, in response to growing demand for the county’s parenting and pregnancy health programs.

Commissioner Blessinger reported progress on the proposed courthouse square monument, and Dubois County Community Corrections Director Wyatt Madden secured approval for a temporary job shadow position to train a replacement for a departing staff member.

The Jasper Redevelopment Commission opened a public meeting to gather input on the Northridge subdivision’s proposed residential Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district. The project, led by Kerstiens Custom Builders, plans to add 155 homes and villas, with prices aimed at providing affordable workforce housing. Despite concerns about affordability, the Commission approved the TIF, with further approvals required from other local bodies.

Additionally, updates on the new outdoor pool construction were provided, showing progress on schedule.
