The Indiana Broadcasters Association released the finalists for the 2024 Spectrum Awards on Wednesday morning. 100.9 WBDC garnered four nominations, including the coveted Station of the Year Award. These nominations reflect the station’s contributions to broadcasting and the local community.

The four nominations include:

  • Indiana Radio Station of the Year
  • Best Radio and TV Local Community Impact: For the 42nd Annual WBDC Country Showdown presented by Mercy Urgent Care. The event was a highlight of community collaboration, with proceeds benefiting TRI-CAP, a Jasper-based nonprofit addressing the needs of low-income families in Dubois, Pike, and Warrick counties through various funding sources.
  • Best Radio General Story: For coverage of the WBDC Country Showdown emphasizing the night’s events, awards, and the impromptu backstage concert. The concert became a focal point as artists and attendees bonded, creating an engaging and memorable atmosphere that included spontaneous singing, dancing, and photo-taking.
  • Best Radio and TV News Investigative Reporting: For a detailed investigation into Differently Able, Inc., founded by Maleah Dearing to support families with special needs. The report shed light on the organization’s significant impact, inspired by her nephew with Down Syndrome and the creation of the annual “Sky Is The Limit” event she created.

The IBA Spectrum Awards will be held on October 15th in Indianapolis featuring a reception, dinner, and free parking at 942 North Pennsylvania Street.

Congratulations to 101 Country WBDC!
