A residential structure fire broke out yesterday morning in Orange County, causing extensive damage as strong winds hampered firefighting efforts.

On March 5, 2025, emergency services responded to a fire at a home in the 7200 block of North County Road 325 East. Orleans Fire Department was dispatched alongside Orange County Rural 2 just before 11 AM. The first units arrived within two minutes of the call and immediately reported flames visible through the roof.

Gusty winds between 40-50 mph significantly complicated firefighting operations, allowing the fire to spread rapidly from one end of the house to the other. Due to the severity of the blaze, additional tanker support was requested from Livonia and Campbellsburg Fire Departments.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Orange County REMC, IU Lifeline EMS, Orange County Emergency Management Agency, and the county’s 911 Dispatch Center. The American Red Cross was called to provide assistance to the displaced family.

No injuries were reported during the incident. Firefighters remained on scene until approximately 3 PM.

Auxiliary members provided support to emergency personnel throughout the operation, supplying refreshments and food both at the scene and back at the station.
