
Thomas R. “Tom” Schneider Sr., 77, of Schnellville, passed away Saturday, April 12th at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Tom was born on November 23, 1947, in Huntingburg to Orville Sr. and Bernadette (Merkley) Schneider. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Egloff on July 29, 1995, in Jasper.
Tom was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville. Tom was a retired construction worker and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Birdseye Conservation Club and St. Anthony American Legion. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, making and canning soup, watching NASCAR, gardening and yard work, helping other people, watching westerns, going to shooting matches, and being with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Schneider; two sons, Thomas R. Schneider Jr. (Lindsey) of Bowling Green, KY. and Adam (Tara) Foll of Ferdinand. Seven grandchildren, Logan, Hunter, Landen, and Bentley Foll, Jackson Schneider, Peyton, and Paige Mattingly. Brother Kenny (Monica) Schneider of Birdseye, Sisters, Marilyn (Maurice) Hedinger of St. Anthony, Doris Haas of Ireland, Connie (Randy) Thewes of Celestine, and Cathy (George) Tolbert of Paoli. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeremy Foll, and brothers, Andrew Schneider, Gary Schneider, and Orville “Buck” Schneider.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Wednesday, April 16, 202,5 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville. Burial with military graveside rites by St. Anthony Legion Memorial Detail in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 15th, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and continuing on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the church.
