The Community Foundation of Crawford County recently awarded Community Education Grant a four year, $250,000 to Crawford County High School for the formation and continued service of its Crawford County Career and Technical School at the English Campus. Community Education Grants are made possible by support from the CFCC Education Attainment Fund.
In keeping with one of the Community Foundation of Crawford County’s primary focus areas, the CFCC invests in education and workforce development through education to raise individual earning potential, now and in the future.
- The CFCC already has more than 30 endowed scholarship funds to support collegiate endeavors for the students of Crawford County. In May 2025, it oversaw awards of more than $366,000 toward this effort.
- The CFCC is now investing in the Crawford County Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) overseen by Crawford County High School.
- This grant includes $250,000 funded over the next four years, and kickstarts their efforts with $100,000.
- This grant will allow CCCTEC to better collaborate with educational institutions like Ivy Tech, current businesses like Jasper Engine and Transmission and Todd-Dickey Health Campus, soon to be joined by other trade associations and entities. Some provide necessary funding to fill in the gaps where combined efforts are weakest, others provide an instructor or apprenticeship, and others provide in-kind contributions like needed equipment. Together, we all strengthen and multiply collaborative efforts and outcomes for the people of Crawford County. Other local businesses are not only welcome to participate but are encouraged to engage now for maximum benefit to their employment needs.
- This grant will:
- Work in tandem with the State of Indiana’s new guidelines for Pathways.
Pathways at CCHS include: Academic Honors, Animal Science, Business, Computer Science, Construction, Digital Design, Education, Healthcare, and Welding.
- Greatly increase the number of students who graduate with workforce training to gain employment immediately following high school graduation; and their ability for dual credit achievement, that can be applied toward additional education if they choose to pursue it.
- Increase local opportunities for: new businesses (both home based and separate building potential), expansion of existing businesses, more home ownership, more independence for those to become certified/credentialed, increase Crawford County Community Schools enrollment and more.
Dr. Kimberly Broughton-Miller, CFCC’s Board Chairperson said, “This investment reflects deep commitment of the Board of Directors toward building a stronger future for Crawford County—one where every student has access to real-world skills, local career opportunities, and the foundation for lifelong success. The Community Foundation is proud to support a vision that grows both individual potential and our community as a whole.”
