The Rotary Club of Dubois County is proud to announce five outstanding women leaders as finalists for the 13th Annual ATHENA International Leadership Awards. The 2025 awards banquet will be held on Wednesday, September 17, at the Huntingburg Event Center, where all nominees will be celebrated and one finalist will be named the ATHENA Leadership Award Recipient.

This year’s ATHENA Leadership Award finalists are: Megan Durlauf, Diana Fischer, Clara Fromme, Laura Grammer, and Tara Rasche.

“The ATHENA Leadership Awards Banquet is a powerful celebration of these incredible women who lead with courage, compassion, and conviction right here in Dubois County,” said Rotary Club President Deidra Church. “These honorees are not only breaking barriers—they’re building bridges for the next generation of leaders to rise.”

The event will recognize the lasting impact of the following extraordinary community leaders:

Megan Durlauf

Megan Durlauf is a changemaker in recovery services and criminal justice reform. As Director of Operations at Dove Recovery House – Dubois County, she provides trauma-informed residential care for women overcoming addiction. A former corrections leader, Megan has dedicated her career to building systems of hope and healing. She is also a mentor, nonprofit board chair, and tireless advocate for women and youth.

Diana Fischer

Diana Fischer is a nurse, educator, and CEO of Fischer Farms Natural Foods, where she has helped build a nationally respected farm-to-table business. A former nursing instructor and community volunteer, Diana is known for her tireless work ethic, generosity, and humility. She mentors women, donates thousands of dollars in food to those in need, and leads by example across healthcare, business, and service.

Clara Fromme

Clara Fromme is a lifelong educator and community servant who spent over 30 years teaching English at Jasper High School, where she launched programs like the Shakespearean Festival and dual credit courses. Even in retirement, she continues to tutor, teach, and volunteer—having written a 325-page History of Celestine book and serving at Memorial Hospital, her church, and local nonprofits. Clara is known for quietly lifting others through education, mentorship, and a life of service.

Laura Grammer

Laura Grammer is a business leader, innovator, and passionate community builder. As 3rd generation co-owner of Ackerman Oil and QYCCO, she empowers employees through career training programs and hands-on mentorship. She played a key role in revitalizing the Jasper Strassenfest and has led countless civic efforts with creativity and heart. Laura’s leadership blends strategy, humor, and a deep commitment to helping others succeed.

Dr. Tara Rasche

Dr. Tara Rasche is the first female superintendent of the Northeast Dubois County School Corporation and a lifelong champion for education and youth. She has led initiatives to expand college and career readiness, mentored countless educators, and served on numerous community boards. Known for her resilience and servant leadership, Dr. Rasche has empowered generations of students and women leaders through her example and encouragement.

The evening will also feature keynote speaker Lilly King, Olympic gold medalist and 18-time World Champion swimmer.

“We are honored to welcome Lilly King as our keynote speaker for this year’s banquet,” said ATHENA Chairperson Manda Combs. “Lilly is a powerful example of resilience, determination, and grace under pressure. Her journey—marked by perseverance and triumph—inspires all of us to lead boldly and believe fiercely in our potential.”

The ATHENA Leadership Award honors individuals who exemplify professional excellence, community service, and a dedication to mentoring and supporting women leaders. Since its founding in 1982, more than 8,000 recipients around the world have received this prestigious honor. As Plato once said, “What is honored in a country will be cultivated there”—a sentiment reflected in every ATHENA celebration.
