The Town of Winslow is reminding residents that all dogs and cats must be registered with the town and wear tags. Officials announced that penalties will soon be issued for untagged pets, stressing that the requirement is in place to help protect the safety of animals.

Pet owners have about 3 weeks to obtain licenses at the current rates before fees increase under a revised ordinance. Current registration costs are $3 annually for each spayed or neutered dog or cat five months or older, and $5 annually for unaltered pets of the same age. A lifetime tag for a spayed or neutered pet is available for $15.

The town is encouraging residents to act promptly to avoid higher fees once the updated ordinance takes effect.
