Dr. Krystle Hahus, a board-certified pediatrician at Perry County Family Practice Clinic in Leopold, has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the Perry County Community Foundation to help new families during a critical transition period.

The funding will purchase supplies and educational materials for newborn bags distributed to families during their first pediatric visit after leaving the hospital. These resource packages are designed to support parents as they navigate the early days of caring for their infant at home.

Dr. Hahus, who completed her medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine and her pediatric residency at Southern Illinois University, has served the Perry County community for several years. She provides care to newborns, children, and adolescents at the Leopold practice, where she focuses on individualized medical attention for each patient.

The Perry County Community Foundation distributes grants to charitable partners addressing local needs and funding programs that make a meaningful impact in Perry County communities. The newborn bag initiative reflects a broader effort to ensure parents have the resources and information they need during the vulnerable postpartum period.
