The Indiana State Police has added two new probationary troopers to the Jasper District following the graduation of the 88th Indiana State Police Lateral Academy. Fourteen troopers graduated on November 6, 2025, after completing more than 1,200 hours of structured instruction, which included criminal law, traffic law, crash investigation, emergency vehicle operations, self-defense, first responder training, and scenario-based field exercises.
The newly assigned troopers to the Jasper Post are Aaron Guzman and Dakota Hatton, both Washington High School graduates from Washington, Indiana.
Guzman holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Owensboro Community and Technical College. He served four years in the U.S. Army as a Cavalry Scout, including a 2016 combat deployment to Afghanistan, and later served five years as a patrolman with the Washington Police Department.
Hatton earned a bachelor’s degree from Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee, and served with the Army National Guard as a Military Police Officer, including an overseas tour at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He later served four years as a patrolman with the Washington Police Department.
Both troopers now enter a three-month field training phase working alongside veteran troopers. After successful completion, they will be issued patrol vehicles and begin solo patrol assignments.
