The Jasper Police Department has arrested a Jasper man in connection with a vandalism incident that occurred at the Jasper Public Library during the early morning hours of May 6, 2026.
On May 11, 2026, at approximately 1:21 p.m., officers with the Jasper Police Department executed an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Deontae T. Wigodinski at his residence located at 3828 N. Portersville Road Lot 12 in Jasper.
According to investigators, Wigodinski is alleged to have shattered two windows at the library and attempted to cause additional damage to the building. Investigators also believe that after returning home, he disposed of clothing believed to be connected to the incident.
Officers spoke with Wigodinski on the day of the incident, and investigators believe he provided false statements during the investigation.
Wigodinski was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Dubois County Security Center. He faces charges of Obstruction of Justice, Criminal Mischief, and False Informing.
The Jasper Police Department thanked members of the public who provided information and assisted investigators throughout the case.
All charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
