Gerald “Jerry” Newman, age 53, of Jasper, Indiana, passed on Wednesday (May 18, 2016) in Bakersfield, California.

Newman, GeraldJerry was born on May 5, 1963, to Kathryn (Whitehead) Greer. He married Diana Loeffler-Vonderheide on June 27, 2003.

He was an electrician and a member of the Local I.B.E.W. 648 since 1985. Jerry traveled extensively throughout his career. In 2004 he spent a year working in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Where ever he went Jerry never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

He was a member of Redemption Christian Church of Jasper,

He enjoyed fishing, cooking, riding his motorcycle and had a love for animals.

Preceding him in death was his Step-Father, Richard D. Greer.

Funeral services for Jerry Newman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday (June 2, 2016) at Redemption Christian Church of Jasper, with burial to follow in Enlow Cemetery in Jasper. Rev. Darrel Land will officiate.

Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (June 1, 2016) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN.
