Ambrose H. Schwenk, age 72 of Jasper, IN, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at home.

Ambrose was born in Jasper, IN on March 5, 1945 to Jerome and Magdalen (Reker) Schwenk. He married Jane Block on April 27, 1968 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ambrose was a Indiana Army National Guard Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #147 in Jasper.

He was a proud graduate of the Ireland High School Class of 1963.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

He was an avid fan of I.U. Sports, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers. He loved gardening, golf, fishing, and hunting.

Surviving are his wife Jane Schwenk, Jasper, one son, Brian Schwenk, Jasper, two sisters, Pat Sternberg of Jasper, Carol Walters (Joe), Indianapolis, two brothers, Brother Flavian Schwenk O.S.B., St. Meinrad, and Fred Schwenk (Joyce), Washington, IN.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Catherine “Katie” Schwenk.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ambrose H. Schwenk will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. The Jasper American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center, or to a favorite charity.
