Melba Marie Werremeyer, age 88, of Huntingburg, passed away at 5:52 a.m., on Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born September 24, 1929, in Holland, Indiana to Edmund and Edna (Werremeyer) Roesner; and married Maurice E. “Pete” Werremeyer on August 20, 1950, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland.  Melba worked at General Electric in the 1950-60’s and then worked as a teacher’s assistant and secretary at Maple Park Elementary School in Huntingburg.  She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland where she was church organist for 60+ years.  Melba enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses and day lilies, and cooking.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice “Pete” Werremeyer, who passed away November 12, 2017; and her brother, Ray Roesner, who passed away February 7, 2018.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack R. (Barbara) Werremeyer of Dale; one daughter and son-in-law, Joni M. (Jay) Zarnoth of Dale; one sister, June Seufert of Holland; by (6) grandchildren, (6) great grandchildren and (1) step great grandchild.

Funeral services for Melba Werremeyer will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland with burial to follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery.  Reverend David Darling and Reverend Ed Wicks will officiate at the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-8:00 p.m., E.S.T., on Tuesday, March 6th.  Memorial contributions can be made to the St. James Lutheran Cemetery Endowment Fund.  Condolences may be shared with the family at:  www.nassandson.com
