Robert F. Fleck, age 92 of Jasper, IN, passed away at 12:38 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Brookside Village in Jasper, Indiana.

Robert was born in Jasper, Indiana on October 19, 1925 to Albert Sr. and Emily (Hopf) Fleck.  He married Dorothy J. Lechner on June 14, 1947 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She preceded him in death on April 22, 2000.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran  who served as an anti tank gun crewman in the European Theater during WWII, and was a member of the American Legion Post #147 and the VFW Post #673, where he served on their color guard.

Robert retired from Clairmont Transfer Company as a truck driver.

He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and their Men’s Society, and was a member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus.   He was also a member of the German Club and the Fraternal Order of Police.

He enjoyed volunteering for the Disabled American Veterans, transporting veterans to hospitals and clinics, and he and his wife Dorothy volunteered at the Dubois County Museum and for Red Cross Blood Drives.   He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and bingo.  He was a man of many stories and liked to tease and loved spending time with his family, friends, and grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Beth Gibson (Glaze), Seymour, IN,  Anne Therese Poling (George), Versailles, IN. Two sons, Terry Fleck (Sylvia), Indianapolis, IN,  Randy Fleck (Sharon), St. Anthony, IN, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two step granddaughters, and one brother, Leon Fleck (Elfrieda), Jasper.

Preceding him in death besides his wife, was one son Bill Fleck, and three brothers, Albert, Harold, and Raymond Fleck.

A Mass of Christian burial for Robert F. Fleck will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.  The VFW Post #673 and the American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. service time at Precious Blood Catholic Church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois County Community Foundation – Bill Fleck Legacy Endowment,  St. Mary’s of the Woods,  Precious Blood Catholic Church, or to a favorite charity.
