Levanis “Lenny” T. Ernst, age 76 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday (November 11, 2015) at home.

Lenny was born on September 6, 1939 in Jasper, Indiana to Theodore and Thresia (Arehart) Ernst. He married Barbara Smith on October 13, 1962 at St. Mary’s Church in Huntingburg.

Lenny retired from the Jasper Corporation after more than 35 years of service. He then worked part time for St. Charles Medical Complex.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Jasper Moose, and Jasper Outdoor Recreation.

He served in the Indiana Army National Guard.

For many years he played “Santa” for many organizations and families.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Preceding him in death were three sisters, Carol Matheis, Dolores Flannagan and Claretta Ernst who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Lenny Ernst will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday (November 16, 2015) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday (November 15, 2015) at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. The Jasper Moose will conduct a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
