A Lawrence County man was flown to an Evansville Hospital late Monday afternoon after he was involved in a one vehicle accident in Northeast Dubois County.    

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department reports that just before 4:30 Monday afternoon 21-year old Levi Dalton of Williams was traveling eastbound along State Road 56 just west of Crystal in a Schwan’s delivery truck when deputies say his delivery truck, for an unknown reason, went left of center and came back into his lane before running off the south side of the highway.

Authorities say the truck, which sustained substantial damage, stopped in a large ditch with Dalton entrapped.

Dubois Volunteer Fire Department first responders had to free Dalton by cutting the roof of the truck cab.

Dalton was taken by ambulance to a landing zone at the Dubois Crossroads. He was then transferred by by helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. No word on the nature of his injuries however he was listed in good condition earlier today.

A large wrecker from Ruxer Ford removed the Schwan’s truck from the ditch and transported it to their Washington Plant. Damage was unknown at this time.

Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services also assisted.
