A Huntingburg woman was placed under arrest Monday afternoon on theft and public intoxication charges after she was accused of shoplifting at a local grocery store.

Just after 3:30 yesterday afternoon Huntingburg Police were called to the Mor For Less supermarket along North Main Street after a woman later identified as 46-year old Shannon Leinenbach of Huntingburg allegedly put two bottles of MD 20/20 wine valued at $8.54 into her purse. Police say the woman refused to stop for store personnel and walked away away from the store headed westbound.

Leinenbach was later found by police along with the opened bottles of wine at her residence. Police say Leinenbach, who possessed a strong odor of alcohol, admitted to the theft.

She was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper for an examination due to the high level of alcohol in her system.

Police say her Blood Alcohol content measured at .37 percent

After her release authorities booked Leinenbach into the Dubois County Security Center on misdemeanor counts of theft and public intoxication.
