A Jasper man was placed under arrest Thursday evening after he was accused of battering two children on two separate occasions.

Around 6 o’clock last night, officers with the Jasper Police Department were notified by the Dubois County Department of Child Services on a report of possible battery to a child.

Officers arrived at the location and spoke with Child Services employees and the mother of the
child. At that time police determined that there were 2 children that had sustained injuries on a pair of separate occasions.

On Tuesday of last week Child Services received a report that a 6-year old child had gone to school with a black eye.

Now due to a suspicious story given by the child, the injury was reported to child services who launched an investigation at that time.

Yesterday the family had returned to child services for a follow up welfare check for the children. It was at this time that an employee noticed a different 4-year old child that had an injury on his forehead.

After further investigation it was determined that the mother’s boyfriend 25-year old Kaleb Hall of Jasper had caused the injury to the children while attempting to discipline them.

Due to the injuries sustained by the children it was learned that the discipline was excessive.

Hall was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Battery. Police say the charges will be level 6 felonies due to the children being less than 14 years of age.

Hall was taken to and lodged at the Dubois Co Security Center.
