Aileene May Kron, 87, of Gentryville, passed away, Saturday, May 28th at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Aileene was born September 27, 1928 in Evansville to Jacob and Bertha (Hahn) Fischer. Aileene was confirmed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Evansville on March 29, 1942.

She graduated from Reitz High School and later from Bramwell’s School of Business on December 30, 1946. She worked at Hesmer’s Inc. and Franklin Bank & Trust Co.

She married Norman Kron on July 21, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1997.

Aileene is survived by a daughter, Donna (Herman) Sherman of Gentryville; one son, William Kron of Gentryville; one grandson, Curtis Sherman of Gentryville; a granddaughter, Amie (Jamie) Waninger of Lamar; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Kelsey and Kyle Waninger all of Lamar. Aileene was preceded in death by a son, Alan Kron.

Aileen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston. Aileene loved working on the family farm in her younger years. She enjoyed playing ping pong, piano, checkers and gardening.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 3-7:00 PM CDT at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and Thursday from 8-10:00 AM CDT at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 AM CDT at Becher Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Schmeltz officiating.

Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville. Memorial contributions may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association or a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com
