A Jasper man was taken into custody on a series of charges including operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury after he was involved in an accident involving a pair of mopeds Wednesday evening on Jasper’s northwest side.

At 8:30 last night, officers with the Jasper Police Department were called to the intersection of Portersville Road and Ann Lane in reference to a crash that had taken place between the two mopeds.

When they arrived they found 48-year old Shannon Adcox of Jasper and his minor son both injured after the two crashed their bikes into one another.

Police say both the father and his son were taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The young male was later transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville for treatment of facial fractures.

A police investigation found that Shannon Adcox had slowed abruptly to avoid striking a dog that was in the roadway. Adcox’s son was unable to avoid contact and rear ended his dad’s moped.

Police say both were partially ejected from their scooters.

They eventually found that Shannon Adcox was under the influence of alcohol after he tested at 0.11 percent.

After treatment of his injuries he was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
