David Wayne Hawkins, age 63, of Huntingburg, passed away at 11:25 a.m., on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at home.

David Hawkins Obituary photo739_edited-1He was born December 22, 1952, in Huntingburg, Indiana to David J. and Christina J. (Sullivan) Hawkins. He married Mary Sitzman on September 7, 1985, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Wayne worked for Versteel in Jasper and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was an avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast; enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family; and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Randy L. Hawkins, who died May 12, 2016.

David and Christina Hawkins of Huntingburg, Ind.;
Two sisters,
Paula Braunecker of Ferdinand, Ind.,
Kathy Braunecker of Santa Claus, Ind.;
by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Wayne Hawkins will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday. A parish vigil will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, at the funeral home. Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com.
