Local authorities are seeking assistance from the public after a vehicle struck an individual near the Dubois-Martin county line late Saturday night.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office says at about a quarter till midnight deputies were called to the 9900 block of Hickory Grove Road where authorities learned a vehicle had struck an individual and fled the scene northbound on Hickory Grove Road into Martin County.

Martin County Emergency Medical Services and Dubois Volunteer Fire Department first-responders were called to the scene. The first-arriving units confirmed a male had been struck in the roadway and had suffered injuries.

Police say a man was injured at the scene.

He was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Jasper before his transfer to a regional hospital.

Deputies were assisted by the Martin County Sheriff’s Department Memorial Hospital EMS and Dubois First Responders.
