Sunday morning October, 16 Dubois County Sheriff’s officers arrested 41-year old James Medley of Ferdinand after he was found driving a stolen 1998 Dodge Durango. The Durango had been reported stolen at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, upon the report being issued to patrolmen, a deputy spotted the stolen vehicle and followed it until backup could arrive. The officers then initiated a traffic stop on US 231 near the intersection with 1200 South just south of Huntingburg where Medley tried to take off but was blocked in by officers.

Deputies found Medley in possession of a handgun as well as Schedule 4 controlled substances and syringes. He was also found to be wanted on several warrants including two from Dubois County for a vehicle break-in that took place August 25th in Jasper and another vehicle theft in Ferdinand on August 28. Medley also has federal warrants out of Texas and Virginia.

He was taken to Memorial Hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Dubois County Security Center an a Level 6 felony count of vehicle theft and misdemeanor counts of possession of a Schedule 4 controlled substance and possession of syringes.
Deputies were assisted by the Ferdinand Police Department and the Huntingburg Police Department.
