Officials with the Jasper Water Department have issuing a BOIL ORDER for businesses and residents on the city’s southeast side that are in the vicinity of the Vincennes University Jasper Campus.

The boil order is the result of a failed water line in the area.

Residents and businesses along:

•A

•B

•C

and E Streets, along with Hillbrook, Raymond, Highland and St. James streets as well as Hill Road, Energy Drive and 3rd Avenue from Liberty Street to South Meridian Road are under this order.

The area affected includes Redemption Christian Church and the offices of the Dubois Rual Electic Cooperative.

The water department says until further notice, residential and business customers in the affected area need to boil their water before consuming.

Water samples were tested overnight. Water from the site must pass two samples over a 48 hour period before the order can be lifted.

A boil water advisory is issued when some type of event has created the potential for contamination to enter the water supply.

Jasper Water customers in the area should bring water used for drinking coffee, tea, powdered drinks, fountain drinks, ice, brushing teeth and washing dishes to a full boil for at least 5 minutes before consuming.
