Charles A. Seger, age 93 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 5:33 p.m. on Tuesday (November 8, 2016) at Brookside Village in Jasper, Indiana.
Charlie was born in Dubois, Indiana on October 14, 1923 to Frank and Margaret (Schmitt) Seger. He married Geraldine Howard on October 15, 1949 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville, Kentucky. She preceded him in death on December 19, 2014.
He was a U.S. Army Vet who served in the European Theater during WWII. He was wounded twice in combat and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the VFW Post #673, the American Legion Post #147 and a past president of the Disabled American Veterans, Dubois County Chapter 77.
He attended Georgetown University and graduated from a business college in Indianapolis.
Charlie was the Postmaster for the Jasper Post Office from 1964 until he retired in 1985. He later worked at Wal-Mart from 1987 to 2002. He served as the County Recorder from 1959 to 1964. He was a member of the National Association of Federal Employees.
Charlie was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where he served on the Building Committee and as a Eucharistic Minister for the home bound. He was a past president and district president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a 4th degree member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the Jasper Deanery president of the Serra Club.
He enjoyed playing cards and hosting family and friend gatherings.

Preceding him in death beside his wife was one son; Ronald J. Seger, one sister; Florentine Mathias and five brothers; Francis, Alvin, Bernard, Cletus, and Claude Seger.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles A. Seger will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (November 12, 2016) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, IN. The VFW Post #673 will perform military gravesite rites.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday (November 11, 2016) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN, and one hour before the services at the church on Saturday. The Disabled American Veterans, Dubois County Chapter 77 will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
