A traffic stop in Martin County late this past weekend ended with the arrest of a Franklin County man for numerous drug charges.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening a trooper with the Indiana State Police was patrolling US Highway 50 near Loogootee when he observed a vehicle in excess of the posted 55 mile per hour speed limit.

As the trooper began his traffic stop and spoke with the driver, 18-year old Thor King of Batesville, he could smell the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.

While speaking with King, the trooper sought the assistance of the Martin County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 unit with the stop.
