Shirley A. Mehringer, age 74 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 7:11 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Shirley was born in Jasper, Indiana on February 22, 1943 to Silas and Marie (Engelhart) Giesler. She married Jerome Mehringer on June 6, 1964 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was a home daycare provider for over 30 years, and also previously worked for Jasper Rubber.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and their Blessed Virgin Sodality.

She enjoyed playing cards, canning vegetables, bowling, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving is her husband, Jerome Mehringer, Jasper, IN, three daughters, Karen Weales (David), Jasper, Kim Durcholz (Cory), Jasper, and Kellie Wheeler (Shawn), Apopka, FL, two sons, Kevin Mehringer (Melissa), and Kurt Mehringer (Jessica) both of Jasper. Eight grandchildren, six sisters, Betty Wildman (Jim), Susie Friedman (John), Ruth Elliott, Linda Giesler, Viola Brickey, and Bernice Mathies, all of Jasper, and five brothers, William Giesler, Donald Giesler (Virlee), Terry Giesler (Julie), Edward Giesler (Helen) all of Jasper, and Larry Giesler (Robin) of Indianapolis.

Preceding her in death were three sisters, Virginia Turk, Margie Block, and Mary Jane Giesler who died in infancy, and two brothers, Charlie and Robert Giesler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper, Indiana.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. The Holy Family Blessed Virgin Sodality will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to a favorite charity.
