Mary Lou Helming, 87, of Ferdinand, died Friday, May 12th at Brookside Village in Jasper. Mary Lou was born December 11, 1929 in Ferdinand to Rudolph and Laura (Altman) Meyer.

She married Art Helming on May 30, 1958 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1998.

Mary Lou was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Ann’s Sodality and Ferdinand Senior Citizens. Mary Lou enjoyed being with family and reading at the Ferdinand Library. She enjoyed crocheting for charities and making rosaries for missionaries.

Mary Lou is survived by four sons, Sam (Lisa) Helming of Santa Claus, Glen Helming, Tom (Babe) Helming and Mark (Shelia) Helming all of Ferdinand; one daughter, Doris (Doc) Oeding of St. Anthony; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild and one great grandchild.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Art; one son, Paul Helming and a Daughter In-Law Kathy Helming.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be sent to St. Ferdinand Parish or a favorite charity.
