Officers were dispatched to 707 E 15th St in Jasper in reference to a fight that was taking place outside. Upon officers arrival, they met with a female subject who advised that the two males, Matthew Elliot and Brent Gowers,  were now fighting inside the apartment.

Officers made contact with the subjects inside and while attempting to determine what had occurred, it was determined that Elliot and Gowers had been drinking and began fighting. While speaking with Elliott, he became argumentative and belligerent with officers. Officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, but he pulled away. Elliott was taken to the ground and placed under arrest. Gowers also continued to be disorderly, loud, and argumentative and was taken into custody as well.

Elliott continued to be loud and obnoxious, refusing to follow officer’s and eventually jail staff’s requests. Elliott tested .21% BAC and Gowers tested .09% BAC on a PBT. Both subjects were taken to the Dubois County Security Center where they were booked in and housed. Elliot was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement and Disorderly Conduct and Gowers was charged with Disorderly Conduct.
