The Jasper Jr. Miss Strassenfest Contest will be held Saturday, July 29 at 7 pm in conjunction with the Miss Strassenfest Pageant and the Little Miss and Little Mister Strassenfest Pageants at Redemption Christian Church located at 1450 Energy Drive. Tickets will be available at the door for $5.

Young ladies who currently live in the Greater Jasper School District and will be entering grades 7 or 8 for the 2017/2018 school year were eligible to participate. This year, ten contestants will be vying for the Jr. Miss Strassenfest title.

Scholarships will be awarded to the Jr. Miss and first runner-up in the amounts of $250 and $125, respectively.

The mission of the Jr. Miss Strassenfest Scholarship Program is to encourage and develop the life skills of young women through community service involvement, public speaking opportunities, interview skills and personal development.

Contestants will participate in four categories: scholastics, an interview with judges, a community service project and on-stage presentation. Each contestant volunteered at least four hours and in total contributed 40 hours to a number of worth-while causes.

 

The ten contestants are:

Karis Wigand is the daughter of Melissa and Brian Wigand. She will be a 7th grader at Jasper Middle School.  She volunteered for Crisis Connection.

Alexis Christiansen is the daughter of Meredith and Aaron Christiansen. She will be an 8th grader at Jasper Middle School. She volunteered for C.H.E.W., Child Hunger Ending Workshop.

Lexi Gress is the daughter of Micki and Dale Gress. She will be an 8th grader at Holy Trinity Catholic School. She volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity and Holy Family Church.

Delaney Smith is the daughter of Jodi and Aaron Smith. She will be an 8th grader at Jasper Middle School. She volunteered at the Northwood Good Samaritan.

Celeste Eby is the daughter of Dr. Linda Hanekamp and Dr. Daniel Eby. She will be an 8th grader at Holy Trinity Catholic School. She volunteered at the Jasper Community Food Bank.

Tapanga Buechlein is the daughter of Autumn and Branon* Buechlein. She will be an 8th grader at Jasper Middle School. She volunteered for Children’s Miracle Network.

Hannah Seifert is the daughter of Jami and Brian Seifert. She will be an 8th grader at Holy Trinity Catholic School. She volunteered St. Joseph and Holy Family Bible School.

Kaitlyn Kaeck is the daughter of Michelle Hopper and Kenny Kaeck. She will be a 7th grader at Jasper Middle School. She volunteered at the Dubois County Humane Society.

Emily Schaefer is the daughter of Jamie and Curt Schaefer. She will be an 8th grader at Jasper Middle School. She volunteered at the Dubois County Humane Society.

Mallory Krapf is the daughter of Shelly Krapf and Ben Krapf. She will be a 7th grader at Jasper Middle School. She volunteered at St. Charles Health Campus.
