The Jasper Police Department has been made aware of more scam calls in the area. Subject receives a phone call from what looks like a local telephone number and caller is advising them they need to verify their Social Security numbers,etc.
Some of the numbers are actually associated with local businesses in the area, for example – HLS Pharmacies. PLEASE hang up immediately. The perpetrators actually have the ability to “hijack” a business phone number so it appears the call is legitimate.
AGAIN, JASPER POLICE DEPARTMENT REMINDS CITIZENS NEVER TO GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE!!
