Viola B. Sander, age 91 of Celestine, IN, passed away on Monday morning, August 7, 2017 at home.

Viola was born in Jasper, Indiana on July 9, 1926 to John and Bertha (Hopf) Vogler. She married Victor Sander on April 23, 1946 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2005.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Campus, and their St. Anne’s Sodality. She was also a member of the Celestine Community Club and the Celestine Home Economics Club.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Darlene Phillips, Cindy Vernon (Tony), both of Louisville, Martha Goepfrich , Celestine, three sons, Jim Sander (Margaret ) , Ron Sander (Mary), and Donnie Sander (Linda), all of Celestine, 12 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren, and one brother Charlie Vogler (Eileen), Jasper, and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Vogler of Jasper.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was one grandchild, Ryan Sander, one great-grandchild Kasen Goepfrich, one sister Marita Sullivan, one brother, Andrew Vogler, and two son-in-laws, Steven Goepfrich, and Mark Phillips.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Viola B. Sander will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Isidore Parish St. Anne’s Sodality will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Catholic Parish, the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, or a favorite charity.
