Gloria L. O’Brien, age 84 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Gloria was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on March 15, 1933 to Theodore and Zella (Schurz) Bretz.  She married Fred J. O’Brien on August 13, 1955 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, IN.

She retired as a clerk for the Jasper City Utilities Office,  and had previously worked for the Danner’s 3D store in Jasper.

She was a long time volunteer for Holy Family Catholic School in Jasper, and was very active in the Holy Family Young Hopefuls 4-H Club.

Gloria enjoyed sports, drawing, watching her grandchildren play sports, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving is her husband, Fred O’Brien, Jasper, two daughters, Patti O’Brien, Huntingburg, Liz Milligan (Joe), Jasper, Michael O’Brien (Andrea), Jasper, Steve O’Brien (Lisa), Jasper, Jim O’Brien, Lebanon, IN, eleven grandchildren, one step grandchild, and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Funeral services for Gloria L. O’Brien will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.  Fr. Don Ackerman will officiate.

A visitation will be held from Noon until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a favorite charity.
