Morina C. Schaefer, 93 of Ferdinand formerly of St. Meinrad passed away Saturday February 3rd in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born May 10, 1924 in Mariah Hill to Frank & Mary (Lemmer) Miller. She was united in marriage to Robert B. Schaefer on April 26, 1943 in Mary Help Of Christians Church, Mariah Hill. Robert preceded her in death on September 7, 2005.

Morina was a member of St. Meinrad Parish and its Ladies Sodality and St. Elizabeth Society. She was also a member of Ferdinand Senior Citizens. Morina was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and playing cards.

Surviving are one daughter, LaVerne Gogel (Randy) of Mariah Hill, two sons, Dennis Schaefer (Kathy) of Middletown, OH.,, and Kevin Schaefer (Sheryl) of St. Meinrad. 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. One sister, Vernita Sitzman- Nies of Mariah Hill. She was preceded in death also by one son, Wayne Schaefer, one daughter, Erlene Cooper, grandson, Todd Werne and one twin sister, Adaline Fischer.

Funeral services for Morina Schaefer will be held at 10:00 AM CST Friday February 9th in St. Meinrad Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM CST Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and after 9:00 AM CST Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Meinrad Cemetery Fund.
