Various charges have been levied against a Jasper man who was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after he was accused of raping a woman earlier this week.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says they were made aware of the incident on Tuesday that allegedly took place on Monday.

An investigation by a department detective has led to the arrest of 23-year old Nicholas Burger of Jasper who authorities say was known by the victim.

Burger was placed under arrest Wednesday afternoon and was booked into the Dubois County Security Center on two Level 3 Felony counts of Rape, a Level 3 Felony count of Attempted Rape and a Level 4 Felony count of Burglary.
