Carl Ray Newton, 80, of Huntingburg, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, on March 14, 2018, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born January 14, 1938, in Birdseye, Indiana to Oscar and Mildred (Roland) Newton; and married Shirley Wilkey on December 4, 1970.  Ray was an Army veteran, a 34 year employee of Styline Industries, and long-time member of the First Pentecostal Church of Birdseye.

Ray is survived by his wife, Shirley Newton of Huntingburg; son, David Ray Newton of Evansville; siblings, Janet Thurston of French Lick and George Newton of Texas; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg.  Pastor Bret Eckert will officiate; and the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Saturday, the day of the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to assist with burial expenses.  Condolences may be shared at:  www.nassandson.com
