Virginia “Ginny” Schroeder, age 81, of Huntingburg, passed away at 8:58 a.m., on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

She was born August 18, 1936, in Huntingburg, Indiana to John J. and Theckla (Geesken) Junge; and married Gerald “Jerry” Schroeder on June 13, 1959, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.  Ginny retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital where she worked in the medical records department.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, V.F.W. Post #2366 Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary, Jasper Moose Lodge #1175, and the German Club of Jasper.  Ginny enjoyed trips to the casino, bowling, and playing cards with friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Schroeder, who died March 23, 1993; and two sisters, Betty Sollman and Mary Lee Smith.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sonda (Randy) Simpson of Huntingburg; one son and daughter-in-law, John (Sara) Schroeder of Huntingburg; by (7) grandchildren and (3) great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Virginia “Ginny” Schroeder will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Friday, March 16, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 15th.  A V.F.W. Post #2366 Auxiliary memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, followed by a parish rosary prayer vigil.  Memorial contributions can be sent to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Condolences may be shared online at:  www.nassandson.com
