A high speed pursuit late Tuesday night between a motorcyclist and police ended a variety of charges.

Shortly before midnight,  an officer with the Jasper Police Department observed a black Honda motorcycle traveling north on US 231 south of county Road 100 South at a speed of 108 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the operator, later identified as 33-year old Adam Pfau of Jasper, failed to stop.

Police say Pfau’s motorcycle then turned onto HWY 162 passing Lube Way, turned around at the railroad tracks on HWY 162, and began to travel back west on the roadway.

Police say Pfau then proceeded at a high rate of speed turning south at the intersection of US 231 and HWY 162, nearly being struck by a vehicle. Authorities say the motorcycle reached speeds of 127 MPH traveling south on US 231 before coming to a stop at US 231 and County Road 250 South.

The officer was then able to place Pfau into custody. He admitted consuming alcohol however refused certified chemical tests.

Pfau was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center on Level 6 Felony counts of Resisting Law Enforcement, Criminal Recklessness, Operating a Vehicle HTV and Operating While Intoxicated as well as misdemeanor counts of Operating While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.

Jasper Police were assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and the Huntingburg Police Department.
