Officers with the Jasper Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance as they look for the drive of a vehicle that left the scene of a Wednesday morning accident that took place at a north side Jasper financial institution.

Police say the incident took place just before 9:30 Wednesday morning in the parking lot of Old National Bank along the 3600 block of Newton Street in Jasper.

They say the first vehicle possibly a gray or silver Toyota Camry had been parked facing east while a an SUV driven by 24-year old Mariah Hart of Celestine had been parked facing west.

Hart told police she backed from her space to the south while the other vehicle began backing from its space.

Hart stated she blew her horn in an attempt to get the other car’s attention however was unsuccessful.

The unknown vehicle backed to the southwest its driver side rear corner struck the passenger rear
corner of hart’s SUV.

Hart told police she exited her vehicle and that the driver of the other vehicle looked at her, then drove
away.

Police say Hart took down a partial Indiana plate of 145GA and described the vehicle that left as again a silver or gray Toyota Camry.

The driver was described as a male subject possibly in his 60’s or 70’s.
