Sharon Ann Weitkamp, 82, of Evansville, formerly of Holland, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019. She was born to the late Marvin and Wilma (McCool) Dike on September 17, 1936. Sharon grew up in Dale, Indiana, and graduated from Dale High School. She married the late Eldo Weitkamp on June 25, 1960.
Sharon led a quiet life helping her husband on the family farm, raising their daughter and attending Zoar United Methodist Church. She worked at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg. After moving to Evansville, she worked at the Protestant Home before retiring to help in the care of her grandchildren.
With a sweet disposition, it was no wonder yellow was her favorite color. Like the sun, finches and roses that bear it, she exemplified warmth and brightness. She was a believer in showing affection and love; never hesitant when it came to saying another “I love you”. She was a believer in the power of candy and hugs to change the course of a bad day. Most of all, though, she was a believer in Jesus; she staked her trust in His truth. And for all the people to have walked this Earth, she was one of the closest to showcasing His eternal love. Forgiveness was her natural state. Love was her natural state. A loving mother and grandmother, she was a nurturer at her core, and like the flowers she loved so deeply was always pleasant to be around.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Janet Hayden, son-in-law, Shawn, and grandchildren, Lily, Olivia and Lacy Hayden all of Evansville; two sisters, Linda (Denny) Lancioni of Bloomington and Darlene (Steve) Hubster of Huntingburg; and brother, Charles Dike of Dale. Sharon was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., E.D.T., Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Zoar Cemetery located in Zoar, Indiana. Pastor Denny Stevenson will officiate at the funeral.
