Runners gathered before sunrise on Saturday at the Parklands of Jasper for a long-distance relay.

The Endurance Relay is organized by the DC Multisport nonprofit and aims to draw runners from surrounding states to Indiana. All proceeds go to the Parkland’s maintenance endowment.

A total of 20 teams ran against each other at this year’s relay, with half from here in Dubois County and the other half from places like Central Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Each team’s goal was to run more loops around the park’s 1.6-mile paved course than any other team in their division. Teams had a time span of six hours to accomplish this goal and had the chance to switch out after each lap was completed.

The overall runner was “Four Fast Fine Fellas” who ran 37 laps.

Team “Galloping Unicorns” comprised of Clint and Reese Brosmer took home the win in the 2-Person Coed Division.

Liesel Fraley and Mary Neinaber of team “Lady Comrades” won the 2-Person Females Division.

“Stepbrothers” comprised of Jeff Mires and Bart Heinemann took home the win for the 2-Person Male Division.

Team “ProRehab” won the 4-Person Coed Division. Team members included Renee Brinkmann, Samantha Houchin, Nick Fischer, and Andy Fischer.

“Four Fast Fine Fellas”, comprised of Jeffrey Stillwell, Steve Matthews, Ian Bashor, and Lucas Neuffer also took home the win in the 6-Person Male Division.

Team members Brittany Massey, Whitney Huff, Leanna Graves, Tara Schnaus, Ashley Steckler, and Mandy Allen of team “I Thought They Said RUM” won in the 6-Person Female Division.

Following the relay, all teams got together at The Schnitz Brewery and Pub for an awards ceremony. Event organizers anticipate the Endurance Run to continue growing in years to come.
