95-year-old Clarence E. Schroeder, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Clarence was born in Jasper, Indiana, on November 24, 1925, to August and Catherine (Streicher) Schroeder. He married Virginia “Jeanie” Bartley on October 19, 1948, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2017.
He was a construction engineer for the Engineering Corps in the United States Army, serving during WWII in both the European Theatre and the Pacific.
Clarence retired from JOFCO.
He was a founding and lifetime member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, and V.F.W. Post #673.
He enjoyed woodworking and spending time outdoors and with family and friends.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen (Rich) Weyer, Brenda (Larry) Scraper, Ann (Bob) Schneider, all of Jasper, IN, one son Mark (Marlene) Schroeder, Jasper, IN, ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great grandchild on the way, and his caregiver, Dorothy Dearing.
Preceding him in death besides his wife are three sisters, Florence Seifert, Dora Dupps, Leona Thewes, and five brothers, Edwin, Sylvester, Oscar, Orville, and Othmar.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Clarence E. Schroeder will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana. V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military grave site rights. Masks and social distancing are recommended.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Wednesday.
