Frances E. Schlachter, 89, of Siberia passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. Frances was born in Siberia on February 5, 1934, to Albert and Caroline (Denu) Otto. She was united in marriage to William “Sam” Schlachter on June 18, 1955, in St. Martin of Tours Church in Siberia. Sam preceded her in death on March 1, 2015.

Frances was a lifelong member of St. Martin of Tours Church. She was a homemaker and she and her husband were farmers.

Surviving are two daughters, Susanne (Susy) Cooper of Ferdinand and Jane (Don) Ubelhor of Birdseye. Four grandchildren, Brad Cooper, Alison (Kevin) Sarich, Erin (Waylon) Sisley, and Jared (Tiffani) Ubelhor. Four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Martin (Dianne) Otto of Mariah Hill and Larry (Kaye) Otto of Ferdinand. Frances was preceded in death by her parents and a great-granddaughter, Rae Ann Ubelhor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM CT on Saturday, June 17th in St. Martin of Tours Church in Siberia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 16th from 3:00 until 7:00 PM CT and Saturday from 7:00 until 8:30 CT at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
