(Paoli, IN) The efforts of several county law enforcement agencies and the Indiana State Police have been rewarded with the arrest of felony escapee, 40-year-old Eric King, of Paoli, IN.

King was issued an arrest warrant for Felony Escape from Home Detention and authorities attempted to arrest the man on July 11, 2023. A search ensued when King was seen in the area of West River Road, in Shoals, driving a red 1995 Ford F250 in an unknown direction.

ISP Troopers and Martin County Deputies located Eric King on US 231 in Martin County yesterday and attempted to arrest the subject. King refused to comply and fled the scene until authorities believe the vehicle ran out of gas and it was pulled into a private drive.

Police found King and attempted to take him into custody when the man was able to gain control of a police car, before using it to ram another police vehicle and fleeing the scene in the stolen cruiser. King eventually crashed the police car in a southern Greene County field and fled.

The search continued into Wednesday morning until 4:06 when deputies found King in southern Greene County where he was arrested without incident. There is currently no risk to the public.
