Richard L. “Rick” Heeke, 65, of Ferdinand, passed away Friday, September 1st at his home. Rick was born on April 4, 1958, in Jasper to Albert and Martina (Schepers) Heeke. He was united in marriage to Joan Krampe on June 16, 1984, in St. Ferdinand Church. Joan preceded him in death on June 12, 2023.

Rick was a member of Christ the King Parish. A devoted husband and father. A man who dearly loved his grandchildren. An amazing advocate for those close to him. A loyal caregiver for loved ones in need. A coach, a mentor, and a lifelong Optimist Club member. He was a dedicated employee of Kimball International, where he retired after 40 years of service. There he was a “jack of all trades”, becoming an invaluable team member. He also enjoyed taking care of the Ferdinand Community Center over the years.

Surviving is one daughter, Mandy (Dwayne) Osborne of Santa Claus. One son, Luke (Alyssa) Heeke of Ferdinand. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Patty (Mike) Oser of Jasper, and Donna Hassfurther of Ferdinand. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Karen Heeke. 

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM ET on Friday, September 8th in St. Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM ET and Friday from 7:00 until 9:30 AM ET at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
