Andrew “Jack” Gogel, 87, of Mariah Hill, passed away on Sunday, February 4th at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. Jack was born September 23, 1936 in Mariah Hill to Gilbert and Frances (Bockting) Gogel. He married Philomena Jones on September 27, 1959 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tell City. Philomena preceded him in death on March 30, 2017.

Jack was a member of Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. He belonged to the Mariah Hill Y.M.I, Mariah Hill Conservation Club and Santa Claus Legion Post 242. Jack was very involved in Spencer County 4-H, where he served on the board as well as a leader.

Jack is survived by a son, Mark (Terri) Gogel of Dale, a daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Sibrel of Santa Claus; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Tucker Gogel, Whitney Hirsch, Logan and Lauren Sibrel, Kirstie and Matthew Gunselman; five great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Philomena; a daughter, Annette “Annie” Gunselman; brothers, Tom, Fred, Barney, Leo and Jim Gogel; sisters, Irene Bettag, Romilda Westenhofer and Catherine Rasche.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 7that 10:00 AM CST in Mary Help of Christians Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Santa Claus Legion Post 242 will conduct military graveside rights. Friends may call Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home from 3:00 PM CST until 7:00 PM CST and also on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 AM CST until time of services.
