Michael L. Day, 75, of Dale, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at Cypress Grove Nursing Home in Newburgh. Michael was born September 6, 1948, in Evansville to Alvin and Lucille (Schaerer) Day. He was united in marriage to Jowashia A. Kellems on February 28, 1970, in St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.

Michael was a member of St. Joseph Church in Dale, where he taught religion classes for 25 years. Michael was a member of the National Corvette Museum. He retired from INDOT after 44 ½ years as a project supervisor. Michael was a United States Navy Veteran, where he served on the USS Hanson DD832. He was a member of Abe Lincoln American Legion Post 444 in Dale.

Surviving are his wife, Jowashia A. Day, one son, Brandon R. Day and fiancé Lori Choate of Birdseye, two daughters, Sacheen L., Day of Grayville, IL., and Samantha L. Day and fiancé Jon Martin of Mt. Vernon, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Robert Day. Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Michael enjoyed hiking and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Friday, February 9th in St. Joseph Church in Dale. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM CDT Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and Friday from 8:00 until 10:00 AM CDT at the church.
