Alvin W. Braun, age 85, of Jasper, formerly of Huntingburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 22, 2024, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Alvin was born on January 16, 1939, in Jasper, Indiana, to Henry and Frieda (Rademacher) Braun.  On April 22, 1962, he married Linda J. Rohrer Braun at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland.  He graduated from Dubois High School in 1957 and attended Georgia Teachers College one year.  He then came back home to go into the same occupation as his father in construction.  He ultimately had his own business, Braun Construction for many years.

He served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963, stationed at Ft. Knox, Ft. Leonard Wood, and Camp McCoy in Wisconsin.  He coached little league in Huntingburg for many years.  He loved playing cards with friends, camping, and fishing!  He served on the church council at Grace Lutheran Church in Huntingburg and at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, Indiana.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Frieda Braun; his sister, Kathryn Brace; and nephew, Michael Brace.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Linda Braun; his children, William Braun, David Braun and Cathie (Matt) Gehlhausen; his grandchildren, Dustin Braun, Morgan Braun, Calvin Gehlhausen, Taylor Gehlhausen and Lacey Braun; nephew, James Brace; great-grandson, Hunter Braun and one great-grandchild on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, Indiana, with visitation at the church from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.  Pastor Daniel Landin will officiate at the service.

Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Holland American Legion Honor Guard.  Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.  Memorial contributions can be made to St. James Lutheran Church.  Condolences may be shared online at:  www.nassandson.com
